Litosphere

"The lithosphere is the rocky outer part of the Earth. It is made up of the brittle crust and the top part of the upper mantle. The lithosphere is the coolest and most rigid part of the Earth." (National Geographic)

Layers of the earth :

Core

Iron and nickel alloy

Radius of 3486 kilometers

Internal heat source

Contains radioactive material

Mantle

Covers the core

Thickness of 3000 km

Composed of silicon, magnesium and iron rocks

Very high temperatures due to its contact with the core

Earth's crust

It is above the mantle

Two types can be distinguished Continental and oceanic

the solid upper part of the mantle and the earth's crust form the lithosphere
