What is demography? 

Demography is a science that statistically studies human populations; their size, structure, evolution and general characteristics, as well as the specific processes that determine their formation, conservation and disappearance. 

 

What is it useful for?

Demography provides an overview of the population situation of a society, provides data on the evolution of some social and economic factors that have contributed to the changes experienced by the demographic components of the population: fertility, mortality, migration.
